The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), under the framework of the Central American Markets for Biodiversity Project (CAMBio), reaffirms its commitment to regional development by approving financing and technical support for Costa Rica’s “Proposal Plan for the Governance and Sustainability of Marine Resources in the Exclusive Economic Zone”. The plan’s objective is to integrate, coordinate, and harmonize Costa Rican policies vis-à-vis national marine resources and coastal areas. This proposal will involve the Environmental and Energy Ministry (Spanish acronym MINAE) and the Costa Rican Institute of Fisheries (under the umbrella of the Agricultural Ministry, Spanish acronym MAG), the latter participating by means of its’ National Fishing and Aquaculture Development Plan. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved a credit of US$ 86,948,000, 49.04% of the total value, to Complejo Portuario Industrial de Buenaventura S.A. (CPIBSA), a private company established in Colombia in 2005 for the purpose of port investment, construction, maintenance, administration and operation.
